Introduction
What is Lands of Galzyr?
Lands of Galzyr is an adventure board game set in an open, story rich world in which players are adventurers seeking fame and excitement. The game on is built upon a massive, digital storybook that guides the players to face all kinds of situations, animalfolks, and challenges as their journey continues from one game to the next. Lands of Galzyr can be played either competitively or co-operatively with 1 to 4 players, and despite its continuous nature, players can drop in and out freely between games.
Story-driven adventure: There are hundreds of stories waiting for players to explore. Quests, characters, and decisions all come together to create a grand adventure.
Open game world: Galzyr is a big place, and the players decide the direction of their adventures. There’s lots to see and experience wherever they choose to go.
Save mechanism: Player actions have consequences, often far-reaching. The game is designed to be a continuous adventure, where each game picks up where the previous one left off.
The game is set in Daimyria, a world of animalfolks. Other games taking place in the same setting are Dale of Merchants and Peacemakers: Horrors of War.
Gameplay overview
How do you play Lands of Galzyr?
No matter if the players are going to begin a new adventure or continue where their previous game left off, all cards are taken from the save slots and arranged on the play area. Play will naturally advance through the seasons, with each game spanning a single month.
Each round, players take turns in clockwise order. On their turn, the player may first move up to two spaces. Then they choose one available scene and resolve it using the Book of Adventures. Alternatively, everyone can first move together to have easier time co-operating on quests.
Scenes vary from visiting hot springs to meeting a travelling merchant and from delving into ruins to helping a daughter find her lost father. The engrossing stories players encounter in Galzyr are as diverse as the colourful animalfolk inhabiting it! In those scenes, the players face various challenges and use their six skills to determine the outcome. Preparing properly by having items, statuses, and companions can help greatly!
After everyone has taken their turns, time is advanced to the next day and any possible timed effects are resolved. The game is played a set number of rounds based on the player count. No matter the game mode, the goal is to complete quests and perform noteworthy feats to earn prestige, which reflects renown in Galzyr!
Afterwards, the game is packed back into the box in a specified, simple way to effortlessly save progress. Next time will continue from where the previous one was left off.
Lands of Galzyr utilises a digital storybook, which players can access with an internet browser. The book can be used online or alternatively downloaded and used offline. Due to the sheer amount of stories in the game, the storybook is available only in digital form.
Ease of use: Compared to a printed storybook, our digital adaptation is faster and comes with many handy features. This significantly cuts down the time wasted on finding the right page or paragraph.
Spoiler free: The storybook only shows the player should see at any given moment, preventing accidental spoilers of any upcoming surprises.
Updates: We are able to continue updating the storybook to fine-tune the story entries based on your feedback or to add additional polish.
We commit to keeping the digital storybook online for as long as possible and promise to release it as open source software if we ever find ourselves unable to continue hosting it any more. Players can enjoy their copies till the end of time.
